Conduct, Obligations, And Decision-Making: Details Of My New Book “On Duties” (Podcast)

This podcast discusses my new book, On Duties.  It is the most explanatory, readable, and well-organized translation of Cicero’s classic that is available in English, and perhaps in any language.  In this podcast, I provide the three reasons why this is so. I also discuss the great theme running through the book: the idea of greatness of spirit.

What is greatness of spirit, and why is it important?

  1. I only made it a minute into the podcast before stopping it to go and order the paperback. I then got called away for dinner with the work crew, but was thinking, “Damn it, I want to get back and hear the rest.”

The book sounds fascinating, and the passage you read was truly stirring. A mate was complaining today that it seemed that no-one is longing to be better or more than they are any more, in case it someone gets offended. I feel like us Dreamers are being slowly suffocated by a toxic cloud in our sleep.

Thanks for the kind words, mate. In you, I recognise someone who much further along in the journey than me, so you humble me with your wisdom and guidance, and for that I’m grateful.

  2. Quinte! The book is on its way. I’m looking forward to it. I see that the cover design itself expresses aspects of the book (at least I think so). Hail to the future with wisdom, daring, & temperance man!
