This podcast deals with two different questions I recently received:
1. A guy in his early 20s feels like his girlfriend is holding him back and smothering him, but he’s not sure how to handle the situation.
2. A girl in her 20s is feeling frustrated that she can’t find the kind of long-term relationship that she would like to have.
We break down both questions, and offer some thoughts. No one should ever try to prevent you from achieving your potential, or try to manipulate you into catering to their destructive tendencies. I’m not talking about the normal and necessary act of helping someone in genuine need; I’m talking about someone who is maliciously preventing you from achieving your purposes in life. If you are involved with this kind of person, you need to get rid of him or her immediately.
The second question deals with the subject of dealing with the decisions you have made. If you make a decision, be honest about what you’ve done, accept the consequences, and make the best of it. The universe owes you nothing. It’s up to you, and no one else, to find your life’s purpose, and one of the first ways to do this is to make an honest appraisal of what your priorities are. Ask yourself what they truly are, not what you would like them to be.
